An Atlanta man has been charged in connection with a series of burglaries throughout Gwinnett County.
The Gwinnett County Police Department announced Wednesday morning De'Vondre Antonio Walker, 26, of Atlanta, was charged with 17 commercial burglaries in the county.
"Over the past year the Metro Atlanta area has been plagued with a rash of commercial burglaries," the press release reads. "The crews involved in these burglaries would use stolen cars and stolen license plates which made them difficult to track."
Authorities eventually identified a Dodge Charger as the main suspect vehicle. They located it stashed under a tarp in an Atlanta apartment complex.
Surveillance was placed on the vehicle, and within a few days, authorities witnessed a burglary being committed in Clarkston. Clarkston Police arrested three suspects at the scene, including Walker.
Detectives were able to link Walker to the Gwinnett County burglaries after his arrest.
He was charged with five warrants for burglary in the second degree. Gwinnett County Police also sought twelve indictments for burglary in the second degree. Detectives are still investigating and additional indictments against other suspects could be forthcoming.
Walker is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
