Hall County Government will host the Georgia Ports Authority’s community information meeting on the Northeast Georgia Inland Port project on Tuesday, October 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Airline Baptist Church in Gainesville.
The informational meeting will begin with an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., where officials will share information on the project, including future road projects that are being planned in anticipation of the Inland Port.
At 6 p.m., the Georgia Ports Authority will give a brief presentation on the Inland Port. There will also be an opportunity for questions and discussions from the general public.
Officials say the Northeast Georgia Inland Port will provide a direct rail link to the Port of Savannah and offset 600 roundtrip miles for every container that is moved by railway, which will reduce congestion on Georgia highways, transportation costs and delivery times.
