New Publix Super Market coming to Gainesville in 2024

A new Publix Super Markets-anchored shopping center will be coming near the downtown Gainesville area.

Atlanta-based real estate investment and development firm Branch Properties announced Monday that it acquired the Limestone Marketplace land. This upcoming shopping center will be located at the intersection of Limestone Parkway and New Holland Way and is slated to be completed by mid-2024.

Branch Properties officials said the company will break ground on the 76,764-square-foot center this spring.

The Publix Super Market will have 54,964 square footage and 21,800 square feet will be left over for retail and restaurant space. The property will also include three outparcels ranging in size from one acre to just over three acres.

Limestone Marketplace is located two miles from downtown Gainesville and it is intended to accommodate Gainesville’s rising population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Gainesville’s population increased by more than 13% between 2011 to 2021.

“The city of Gainesville itself grew by over 26% within the same timeframe and has recently seen rapid growth in manufacturing, medical and higher education jobs,” a press release from the development firm reads.

Branch Properties currently owns and manages two Gainesville-area properties off Dawsonville Highway. These properties include Village Shoppes at Gainesville, a 21.5-acre Publix Super Markets-anchored power center, and Lakeshore Mall.
