An Amtrak train collided with a vehicle in downtown Buford at the Shadburn Ferry Road crossing just after midnight Sunday.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the Amtrak train was heading north when it collided with a passenger vehicle, killing at least one person at the scene.
The North Gwinnett Voice reports that the only rail crossing currently open in downtown Buford is where East Main Street and Waterworks Road cross the tracks. The wreck has backed up another Amtrak train, blocking several other crossings through Buford.
