A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl and taking photos of the girl during the incident.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Michael Edwin Murphy, 43, was in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Thursday afternoon.
Murphy is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 on Dec. 25, 2022, and taking multiple photos of the girl during the incident.
The crimes reportedly occurred at Murphy's home in the 3900 block of Price Road in northern Hall County. A family member of the victim reported the incident to law enforcement two days later. Murphy was acquainted with the victim prior to the crimes.
Murphy was charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of children, one for each photo created. He was also charged with sexual battery on a child under 16 and child molestation.
