Man found shot in critical condition at apartment complex off Limestone Parkway

The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a Monday evening shooting after police found a man with a gunshot wound at an apartment complex off the Limestone Parkway intersection.

The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was last listed in critical condition. Police identified him Tuesday as Gabriel Ledford, 19, of Gainesville.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. on Shades Valley Lane, which is on the grounds of the Shades Valley Apartment complex.

Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said authorities are currently investigating the crime scene and details are limited at this time.

“We are asking the public to come forward with any information that they may have,” Holbrook said. “Please contact 911 as we are still currently investigating this incident.”

Authorities have not yet identified a suspect but are hopeful the public will provide information that may lead to an arrest.

Gainesville Police remain on the scene, and Holbrook said the police’s presence should reassure nearby residents.

“At this time, we don't believe that there is any danger to the public,” Holbrook said. “You know, it is something that we are currently investigating. We do have a number of our law enforcement personnel on scene investigating this case, and we'll continue to investigate it throughout the evening.”

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is released.
