A Toccoa man was killed after striking a tree on Prospect Road near Williams Bridge Road early Saturday morning.
According to a press release from Georgia State Patrol, troopers from Post 52 in Hartwell were dispatched to a single vehicle fatality crash on Prospect Road near Williams Bridge Road in Franklin County at approximately 7:10 a.m.
Rafael Emiliano Garcia, 69, of Toccoa was driving a gray 2019 Infiniti QX60 southbound on Prospect Road.
The car struck six separate mailboxes then came to a final stop by striking a large tree with its front on the westbound shoulder of Prospect Road.
Franklin County EMS personnel immediately began CPR on Garcia; however, he subsequently died at the crash scene from his sustained injuries.
After a further inspection of the vehicle it was discovered that Garcia was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
