By AccessWDUN Staff

TIGER, Ga. — In one of the marquee matchups of the night Friday, Rabun County jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 28-14 win over Whitefield Academy.

Jaden Gibson had three receiving touchdowns on the night, including two in the first quarter. The first came on a 6-yard pass from Keegan Stover at the 7:20 mark. Nearly three minutes later, the two hooked up for a 40-yard touchdown to double the Rabun County lead.

Whitefield scored late in the first quarter on a 16-yard passing play, but Noah Legault stretched the lead back out to 14 late in the half on a 4-yard catch. Whitefield scored a touchdown as the first half horn sounded to pull within a touchdown, but Gibson again found the endzone early in the third on a 7-yard catch to get to the final score.

Stover finished 30-for-40 through the air for 273 yards and the quartet of touchdowns, while Gibson had 13 catches for 116 yards.

Rabun will travel to Fellowship Christian next week to open region play.
