Original story published Monday at 6:28 a.m.:

Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in a single-car accident on SR 365 in Hall County. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reports that the accident happened just north of White Sulphur Road, but they aren’t sure exactly how long the car had been there with the crash victims inside.

When troopers arrived at the scene around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, they found a driver and passenger dead inside a car that had gone off the road. According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that a Kia Optima traveling north on SR365 went off the road, hitting a guardrail on the passenger side. The car kept traveling north off the road, going behind another guardrail and striking the driver’s side of the car. The car hit several trees before stopping.

GSP is investigating. They believe the accident may have happened sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Due to the location of the car, the vehicle wasn’t easily seen from the roadway. Passing motorists reported it Sunday afternoon just before troopers responded to the scene.

The victims will not be identified until the next of kin are alerted.
