DANIELSVILLE, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff scored a late touchdown to secure their first win of the season Friday night at Madison County, 20-19.
The Bears jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Perry Haynes opened the night with a 2-yard touchdown run before Asher Wilson found MaxEubanks for a 96-yard touchdown pass. The Red Raiders answered in the second quarter on a 33-yard pitch and catch followed by a 2-yard run. Madison County had the PAT on the latter not go through the uprights, though, forcing a 14-13 halftime score.
Madison County scored another touchdown in the third on an 8-yard touchdown but failed to convert the two-point conversion, setting up Wilson to find Carlos Marlow for 25 yards in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
The Bears had 326 yards of total offense on the night and did not turn the ball over. Eubanks tallied 107 yards receiving on the night, while Haynes had 59 yards on the ground.
Cherokee Bluff will finally get to play a home game next week as they host Chestatee.
