BUFORD, Ga. - Justice Haynes ran for 206 yards and all three touchdowns for Buford Friday night as the Wolves took down North Cobb, 21-14.
Haynes got the Wolves on the board at the 6:55 mark of the first quarter with a 41-yard sprint, followed by a 51-yard scamper four minutes later to give Buford a 14-0 lead. After neither team scored for the remainder of the half, North Cobb finally broke through with a 21-yard touchdown catch by David Mbadinga with 1:34 to play in the third quarter.
North Cobb tied it up with 5:55 to play on a 7-yard run by quarterback Malachi Singleton. Buford drove down the field and would settle for a field goal only for it to be waved off due to a roughing the kicker call on North Cobb.
The penalty set up the Wolves with a 1st and goal from the eight yard line, giving Haynes the opportunity to race in from four yards out with just 42 seconds to play.
Buford tallied 373 yards of total offense and were 4-of-5 on fourth down conversions on the night. Both teams had four turnovers on the rainy Friday night.
The Wolves have the next two weeks off before traveling to Marietta on September 23.
