ATHENS, Ga. — Athens Christian opened with 35 straight points in the first half on the way to a 42-8 win over Lakeview Friday night.
After a slow start for both teams, Athens Christian got on the board with 4:07 left in the first quarter before scoring four touchdowns in the second period, three on the ground and a pick-six.
Lakeview would get on the scoreboard with 2:53 to play in the third on an Antonio Cantrel 6-yard scamper to cap a three-play, 9-yard drive. After Shelton Manyard rushed in for the two-point conversion, Athens Christian put up one more score late in the fourth to get to the 42-8 final.
ACA finished with 337 yards of total offense, while the Lions had just 177. Clay Smith led Lakeview on offense with 59 yards rushing and 43 yards passing.
The Lions will be at Pacelli next week.
