By AccessWDUN Staff

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff found themselves down 18 points in the first half before clawing back to force overtime, but Adairsville would score on a two-point conversion to escape with a 51-50 win Friday night.

The Bears tallied 538 yards of total offense and had 19 first downs, but two turnovers and eight penalties ended up coming back to haunt Cherokee Bluff.

A field goal from Michael Arbour would put the Bears on the board early on, but Adairsville answered with a 75-yard touchdown run to take the lead. After Max Eubanks hauled in a 33-yard touchdown catch to retake the lead, Adairsville rattled off 21 straight points to take a 28-10 lead before Perry Haynes stopped the momentum with a 4-yard touchdown run that cut the lead to 28-16.

Right before halftime, Cherokee Bluff got a pick-six to cut the lead to five before taking the lead early in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run to push the score to 29-28. After an Adairsville 74-yard run, the Bears tied the game with a Haynes 77-yard run. The two teams traded touchdowns late in the period to force overtime, where the Bluff scored first on a 2-yard run before Adairsville finished the game with a 15-yard run with the two-point conversion.

Haynes was the leading rusher with 12 carries for 109 yards, while Eubanks had seven catches for 132 yards on the night.

Cherokee Bluff will have a bye next week before wrapping up a three-game road trip at Madison County in two weeks.
