New rules for Hall County Landfill lead to longer lifespan, extended use

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

The Hall County Landfill has announced that starting September 1, they will no longer be accepting waste in the form of  boats, mobile homes, shingles, bulk Styrofoam or propane tanks.

However, general household Styrofoam, such as take-out containers or packing peanuts, will still be accepted.

“This effort will extend the life of our local landfill, allowing Hall County to continue providing waste disposal services to citizens well into the future," Hall County Public Works Director Srikanth Yamala said.

He also said that he understands that some citizens may still need to dispose of these items, and that the department is encouraging them to look into alternative methods of disposal, such as recycling.

“Propane tanks, for example, can be dropped off at numerous locations around Hall County – the same places where you’d go to refill them, like your local grocery store or gas station,” said Yamala.

Citizens can also visit other nearby landfills, such as the ones listed below, to discard boats, mobile homes, bulk Styrofoam or shingles.
