Braves acquire INF Ehire Adrianza

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves have acquired infielder Ehire Adrianza from the Washington Nationals in exchange for outfielder Trey Harris.

The organization announced the move today. Adrianza will wear No. 12.

Adrianza, 32, batted .179 (15-for-84) with two doubles and seven RBI in 31 games for the Nationals this season. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound native of Guarenas, Venezuela, signed a one-year contract with the Nationals in the offseason after winning the World Series with Atlanta last season.

In the 2021 regular season, Adrianza played 109 games for Atlanta, hitting .247 (45-for-182) with nine doubles, five home runs and 28 RBI.

Adrianza’s 16 hits as a pinch hitter last season tied for the most in Major League Baseball. In total, he hit .250 (16-for-64) in pinch-hit situations with five doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI.

Harris, 26, hit .238 (45-for-169) with two home runs in 59 games with Double-A Mississippi. The outfielder was originally drafted by the Braves in the 32nd round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Atlanta also designated INF Robinson Canó for assignment. In nine games for the Braves this season, Canó batted .154 (4-for-26) with a double and a run scored.
