The body of a missing Gwinnett County man has been found in Paulding County and a murder suspect has been arrested.
On November 28, the family of Ronald Leonard Williams reported him missing. Williams’ car was spotted at an apartment complex in Smyrna and the Gwinnett County Police Department was called to the scene. A statement from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, who also assisted in the investigation, said that the evidence from the car appeared an assault had occurred. Multiple agencies from Gwinnett, Paulding and Cobb Counties, as well as the GBI, worked together to locate the missing man.
Authorities were able to track the last location of Williams’ cell phone and canvassed the area. On December 8, information surfaced that one of Williams’ contacts lived nearby on Valley Brook Drive. After a search warrant was issued, the acquaintance, Wesley Richard Brock, age 44, was interviewed and confessed to shooting and killing Williams. He told deputies that he had dumped the body in a rural area in northern Paulding County. Brock led detectives to the location on Williams Rd. where the body was found.
Brock was subsequently arrested without incident and charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is currently being housed in the Paulding County Jail with no bond.
