Two suspects in custody for shooting death of a Suwanee teen

Suwanee police have identified three teenagers that they believe are responsible for the shooting death of another teen last month.

A 16-year-old, later identified as Abel Castellanos, was found lying dead in a parking lot on July 19, 2022 at an apartment complex in Suwanee. 

Now Suwanee Police say they have charged three teens for his murder. 
One of the suspects, Miguel Gabriel Flores, 16 of Lawrenceville, was arrested. He is charged with felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault. 

On Friday morning, police learned that a second suspect was arrested out of state and will be extradited back to Georgia. Jermaine Dondi Rimson, 17 of Lawrenceville, will also be charged for felony murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault. 

The third suspect, Joshua Ryan Poteat, 17, turned himself into the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.  

All suspects are now in custody.

Authorities are investigating after a teenager was found dead with a gunshot Tuesday afternoon at a Suwanee apartment complex.

According to a press release from the Suwanee Police Department, the 16-year-old boy was found dead in the leasing office parking lot of The Residences apartment complex on McGinnis Ferry Road. The victim had a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police responded at about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday to a person shot call at the complex.
