Late charge by Ralston falls short as Korn Ferry cut streak ends

By AccessWDUN Staff

BERTHOUD, Colo. — Spencer Ralston's run of three consecutive cuts made on the Korn Ferry Tour ended Friday, but not before a gallant charge from the back of the pack.

The Gainesville native came into Friday's second round five shots off the projected cut line of 1-under par. Starting on the 10th hole and at 4-over par, Ralston birdied his third hole, the Par 4 12th and then strung together six straight pars. He caught fire on the second nine.

He birdied the Par 5 1st and had back-to-back birdies on the 5th and 6th. He pared Nos. 7 and 8 needing a birdie on the 9th to make the cut, which would be his fourth consecutive on the tour. That's when play was halted by lightning.

When play resumed, Ralston was not able to convert a birdie attempt, setting for a par to finish at 4-under 68 on the day and even-par 144 for the tournament, one shot back from making the weekend. He shot a 4-over 76 on Thursday's opening round.

Despite the disappointing showing, Ralston is still in line fo make the 75-man field for the Korn Ferry Finals. After Friday, he sat 74th despite playing just half of the season's events.
