For the second time in just over two weeks, a member of the Lula City Council has resigned.
Matt Hamby, who represented District 1, resigned his position Tuesday after accepting the position of finance director in another city. Hamby has two years remaining on his term.

Councilman Lamb Griffin resigned May 23, citing family obligations. He had served for more than 30 years.
The resignations leave just three members on the five-person council – Denise Shockley, Gene Bramlett and Garnett Smith. Mayor Joe Thomas also remains in office.
City Attorney Joey Homans will advise the council soon on what it needs to do to call a special election in November, the earlier date allowed by state law.
Hamby is a Hall County native who moved to Lula in 2007. As a member of the Lula City Council, he served on the streets, utility, human resources and parks and festival committees.
