By AccessWDUN Staff

RALEIGH, N.C. — A rough back-9 on the final round the REX Hospital Open at The CC at Wakefield Plantation kept Gainesville's Spencer Ralston from perhaps capturing his first Korn Ferry Tour win.

Ralston, a former Gainesville High and University of Georgia standout, was fifth going into Sunday's final round and was perched within two shots of the lead at the turn. But bogeys on Nos. 10, 11, and 12 dropped him six shots off the pace and back to a tie for 14th. He rebounded with birdies on Nos. 14 and 18 to finish at 11-under par (273) and in a tie for seventh in the clubhouse.

But Ralston's former Georgia teammate, Davis Thompson. eventually fired a 2-under par 69 on Sunday to capture the title with a four-day total of 267 (17-under). Thompson held off Andrew Yun and Vincent Norrman by a stroke.

Ralston finished in a tie for 10th. It was his third top 10 finish in his last three Korn Ferry events.
