BUFORD — The Buford boys tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 6A state tournament with a 3-0 win over Statesboro on Monday at Buford Park.
James Troutt was the first to win at singles, then Matthew Maurer and Luke Clark won at doubles, and Leyton Grothe closed out the match in singles.
Dean Kingsley was up a set and up in the second set when play was called, as was Miller Troutt and Brent Sherman at doubles.
The Wolves (19-3) next will play the winner of Johns Creek and Valdosta in the third round of the playoffs next week.
