Georgia gas prices are holding steady across the state. According to the weekly gas report released by AAA Monday morning, there was a slight 1 cent increase. The state average is now $3.71 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Despite the slight increase, that’s 28 cents less than last month, but still $1.01 more than this time last year.
It now costs motorists $55.65 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline.
“Georgia gas prices saw minimal or no change at the pumps across the state,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Concerns regarding increased global oil prices and the uptick in demand has caused a slight rise in pump prices.”
In northeast Georgia, Habersham County has the lowest gas prices at $3.61 and Dawson County has the highest with an average of $3.80 for unleaded gasoline.
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 4 cents, making it now $4.12. According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased slightly from 8.5 million barrels a day to 8.73 million barrels a day. “Although supply and demand factors would have typically supported elevated pump prices, the fluctuating oil price continues to be the main factor influencing prices at the pump.”
