The Gwinnett Police Special Victim's Unit and the Chamblee Police Department arrested a man Saturday, who is accused of molesting and attempting to kidnap a child.
David Esteban Ruiz, 62, of Chamblee is charged with one count of child molestation and one count of kidnapping.
According to Gwinnett Police detectives, the incident happened Friday afternoon at approximately 4:45 p.m. at Colonial Place Apartments in Norcross. The victim was playing outside with other children when they were approached by Ruiz.
He allegedly took the child into the stairwell, out of the other childrens’ view. Ruiz then attempted to get the child inside of his silver Mercedes Sprinter van.
Ruiz was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is also pending additional charges.
