Tennis: North Hall girls, Bluff boys take 7-3A titles; Buford sweeps 8-6A titles

DAHLONEGA — The North Hall girls and the Cherokee Bluff boys tennis teams captured Region 7-3A titles on Wednesday.

In the region finals, the Lady Trojans beat Cherokee Bluff 3-2 while the Bears took a 3-2 win over North Hall.

The Lady Trojans got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles while Bluff swept the doubles. The match came down No. 3 singles where Lilly Perry won a tight 7-5, 6-4 match.

In the boys finals, Cherokee Bluff won the Nos. 1 and 2 singles while North Hall took both doubles matches. That match also came down to No. 3 singles with Bluff's Cade Ellis knocking off the Trojans' Griffin Keener in a close two-set match.

All four teams will play host to first round matches in the upcoming Class 3A playoffs.


BUFORD SWEEPS TO 8-6A TITLES

The Buford boys and girls tennis teams swept to Region 8-6A titles on Wednesday at Buford City Park.

The Lady Wolves beat Lanier 3-0 on the strength of a doubles sweep. The teams of Kylie Mccammon and Abigail Foretic and Anna Cate Smith and Millie Patel both took straight-set wins while Berkley Clark won at No. 2 singles to close out the match.

The Buford girls improved to 17-3 on the season and await the No. 4 seed team from Region 6-6A in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs next month.

The Buford boys knocked off Habersham Central 4-0. They also got a sweep in the doubles while Dean Kingsley and James Troutt both won in singles. 

The doubles teams of Brent Sherman and Miller Troutt (No. 1) and Matthew Maurer and Luke Clark (No. 2) take straight-et wins to clinch the region title.

The Buford boys also improved to 17-3 on the season and will also await the No. 4 seed team from Region 6-6A in the playoffs.
