CLEVELAND — The Class 3A third-ranked Cherokee Bluff girls clinched their first-ever Region 7-3A title on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over No. 7 White County on the road.
It was the 10th straight win for the Lady Bears (14-3, 6-0 Region 7-3A), who will take the No. 1 seed into next month's state playoffs. They clinched based on their win last week over No. 5 Lumpkin County (13-3-1, 6-1 Region 7-3A), which has clinched the No. 2 seed.
Sophomore Kaitlin Cook continued her tear through the region with a pair of goals and added an assist. Genesis Gamez had a goal and an assist, Anna Gessner scored once, and Amelia Dovie had one assist for the Lady Bears.
Cherokee Bluff will close out its regular season and region schedule on Friday against Dawson County at home.
White County (12-4, 5-2 Region 7-3A) finishes as the No. 3 seed and will close out its season on April 9 on the road against Class 7A Mountain View.
The state playoffs are set to kick off on April 12.
