THOMASTON — The Georgia High School Association announced on Tuesday that there has been a change in the venues for the upcoming state baseball championship series in May.
Clements Stadium in Statesboro, home to the Georgia Southern Eagles, has been added to this year’s list of sites. The GHSA made that change from Grayson Stadium in Savannah, which has held a pair of championship series each year since 2017.
Clements Stadium is one of four around the state that will hold championship series. The other three sites for the eight finals will be State Mutual Stadium in Rome, home to the Rome Braves; Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, home to the Gwinnett Stripers; and Truist Park in Marietta, home to the Atlanta Braves.
The GHSA assigns a series among the eight classifications based on proximity of the two teams in each classification. The state finals are scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 19 and run through Wednesday, May 25 at the various locales.
In 2021, North Hall won the Class 3A championship at Coolray Field. The Trojans won their first state title in 2017 at Grayson Stadium in Savannah.
