Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield plans to recommend current Flowery Branch High School Assistant Principal Denise Ramsey as the next principal of Cherokee Bluff High School at the school board's next meeting on Monday.

Ramsey has been at Flowery Branch High in multiple capacities since 2007 and, if approved by the school board, will replace Wes McGee, who has been the only principal of Cherokee Bluff High since it opened in Fall of 2018.

“Ms. Ramsey’s leadership has been critical to Dr. Carter and his team at Flowery Branch High School,” Schofield said in a statement released Friday. “Her ability to connect with students, build relationships, and her knowledge of sound pedagogy, will serve the students and staff at Cherokee Bluff High School well. We are excited for her and for the community."

Ramsey said she's excited to get the opportunity at a new school.

"I look forward to working alongside the faculty, staff, and student body to uphold traditions that have already been established, as well as create new ones in the future. I am eager to begin working beside former colleagues again, while also getting to know new faces, both in the staff and the students," Ramsey said.

Prior to working at Flowery Branch, Ramsey started her teaching career at Lilburn Middle School in Gwinnett County in 1997 before going on to teach at St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta and Creekland Middle School in Lawrenceville.

The school board meeting will be at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Hall County School District Central Office on Green Street in Gainesville.
