Franklin County man arrested for possession of child sex abuse materials

A Franklin County man was arrested on March 11 and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Howell Tim Scott, 69, is accused of three counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials and three counts of distribution of child sexual abuse materials.

The GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This led to a search warrant at Scott’s home, where his digital devices were searched and seized.

Scott is now in the Franklin County Jail.

This investigation was part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force’s ongoing effort to identify people in the child pornography trade.

Anyone with information about other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at 404-270-8870.
