Baseball: No. 1 NHall, No. 6 Bluff open 7-3A with wins

FLOWERY BRANCH — No. 6 Cherokee Bluff opened its Region 7-3A schedule with a solid 5-2 win over East Forsyth on Wednesday at home.

Braxton Beal got the win going 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while fanning six. Lucas Tritt earned the save pitching the final 1 1/3 innings surrendering just one hit and striking out two.

East Forsyth (6-5, 0-1 Region 7-3A) took the initial lead with a run in the top of the first. But the Bears (8-2, 1-0 Region 7-3A) answered right back, scoring one run in the first and three in the second as they ran out to a 3-1 lead.

Both teams scored a run in the sixth before Tritt shut the door on any Broncos comeback attempt.

Jacob Vokal had two hits and two RBI to lead the Cherokee Bluff offense. Brett House had two hits and one RBI for the Bears.

Ty Corbin, Ben England, Caleb Miele, and Kaden Thompson all had one hit each on the day.

Jaret Bales tossed six innings of three-hit, shutout ball to lead the Class 3A No. 1 Trojans to a win to open Region 7-3A action for both teams.

Jace Bowen and Cooper Helton each had two hits and two RBI and Luke Erickson added a three-run triple to lead the North Hall offense.

The Trojans (6-4, 1-0 Region 7-3A) wasted little time, jumping on Gilmer starter Ethan McCollum for five runs in the first and single runs in each the third and fourth for a 7-0 lead.

Tate Brooks, Ajay Jones, and Bales all had one hit for North Hall.
