FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch tennis teams both took narrow 3-2 wins over cross-town rival North Hall on Wednesday at the Flowery Branch Courts.
In the boys match, it was a battle of singles versus doubles. The Falcons swept the singles while the Trojans took both doubles matches.
In the singles, Branch’s Santino Sengson beat Austin Cooper 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, Josh Warren held off Jackson Maddox 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2, and Brayden Jackson beat Jaycob Wagner 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match.
In the doubles teams, North Hall’s Clay Martin and Luis Delgado beat Mason Foreman and Logan Magnuson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1. The No. 2 team of Hunter Pierce and Stephen Sarin won a tight three-set affair 6-1, 2-6, 10-5.
In the girls match, the Lady Falcons’ Sandra Hernandez beat Gabbie Jenkins 7-6, (7-3), 6-0 at No. 1 while North Hall’s Lilly Perry nipped Avery Marx 6-0, 4-6, 11-9 at No. 2. Branch’s Katie Martin beat Madilyn Dye 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
In the doubles, Branch got the match clincher at No. 1 as Richney Nguyen and Violet Shultz beat Riley Morgan and Kayla Miller 6-4, 6-1. The Lady Tojans got their second point when Ali Moore and Callie Clark beat Casey Skaggs and Ally Shedd 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
