Authorities release names of teens killed in White County car accident

The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of the two teenagers who were killed in a single-vehicle car accident in White County Tuesday morning.

Georgia State Patrol assistant post commander Sgt. Michael Best said Walter Avery Camargo, 16, of Cornelia, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata northbound on Duncan Bridge Road when it went off the roadway and overturned several times. 

The passenger in the car was identified as Dawson Zackery Ansley, 16, of Baldwin. Ansley was pronounced dead a the scene, while Camargo was pronounced dead while being transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Two Habersham County teens were killed early Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle accident in White County. 

White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said in a news release the accident happened shortly after midnight on Duncan Bridge Road, just north of Pless Road. 

Kelley said a patrol deputy witnessed a white vehicle traveling at a high speed heading northbound on Duncan Bridge Road. The vehicle also allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at Hwy 254. The deputy activated his emergency lights in an attempt to catch up to the vehicle but quickly resumed normal operations once he realized he had lost sight of the vehicle.

The vehicle was discovered a short time later. It had left the roadway and overturned several times. According to Kelley, a boy, 16, of Cornelia, was behind the wheel and unresponsive. A passenger, also a boy, 16, of Baldwin, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Kelley said the driver died while being transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Kelley said this is a "tragic incident, our thoughts and prayers goes out to the families of the victims."

The accident scene was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol for investigation.

White County Coroner Ricky Barrett has not yet released the names of the victims pending notification of relatives.
