Tennis: Branch, NHall get sweeps in region play

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch tennis teams both took impressive wins in Region 8-4A action on Thursday with sweeps of Cedar Shoals at the Flowery Branch Courts.

Both teams took 5-0 wins and both surrendered just three total games over the five matches.

For the boys, all singles were 6-0, 6-0 victories by Santino Sengson, Josh Warren, Brayden Jackson. The doubles teams of Mason Foreman and Logan Magnuson (6-0, 6-1) and Ethan Harward and Eli King (6-1, 6-1) both got quick wins to complete the sweep. In the doubles, No. 1 team Richney Nguyen and Casey Skaggs won 6-0, 6-1 and the No. 2 team of Ally Shedd and Haley Bursinger took a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

NORTH HALL SWEEPS WHITE COUNTY IN 7-3A

The North Hall boys took a 5-0 win while the Lady Trojans won 4-1 at the North Hall Courts.

For the boys, Jackson Maddox beat Kerley 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Griffin Keener held off Allen 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Austin Copper got a win Jacobs was forced to retire in warm ups.
 
In the doubles, Clay Martin and Luis Delgado defeated Sullivan and Bubbs 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and Stephen Sartain and Hunter Pierce beat Ware and McLue 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.
 
The boys improved to 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in 7-3A play.
 
For the girls, North Hall’s Gabbie Jenkins and Lilly Perry took straight-set wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. White County’s Bolton beat Tori Mullins 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for their lone win.
 
In the doubles, the Lady Trojans’ Kayla Miller and Riley Morgan defeated Mosley and Lorley 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and Ali Moore and Madilyn Dye beat Anglinand Bunch 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2.
 
The Lady Trojans improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in 7-3A play.
