SEYMOUR, Tenn. - Cory Hedgecock led all 40-laps en route to the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series victory in the annual Sweetheart event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee on Saturday.
The win netted the 29-year-old Loudon, Tennessee native a $5,000 payday at the 3/8-mile banked dirt track.
The start of the Super Late Model feature saw trouble before a lap was completed, as a seven-car melee would occur in turn four before the opening circuit was completed.
On the second start attempt, Hedgecock and Sam Seawright battled for the lead, with Hedgecock claiming the top spot in turn four.
Hedgecock began to pull away from the field and work through lapped traffic while the competition jockeyed for position behind him. Hedgecock would build up a four second lead late in the going, but saw that advantage evaporate when a caution flew on lap 37 when Cameron Weaver spun in turn four.
On the restart, Hedgecock jumped back to the point, and held it the rest of the way to the checkered flag.
Jensen Ford followed in second, with Dalton Cook in third, Seawright in fourth and Heath Hindman in fifth.
Hawkinsville, Georgia’s Wil Herrington, Josh Henry, Jed Emert, Forrest Trent, and Christian Hanger rounded out the top 10.
