The Hall County Commission has placed two items on their consent agenda for Thursday that would see the county donate two aging fire engines and purchase two new sheriff's office vehicles.
Commissioners heard the items at their work session Monday. Hall County Fire Chief Chris Armstrong said the fire engines will be donated to the Jackson County Correctional Institute Fire Department if the item is approved Thursday.
He said the trucks are still usable to smaller volunteer departments but are not usable for the county as they have been ordering newer engines in recent years.
"Our board of commissioners ordered and took delivery of nine new trucks last year. We ordered eight new trucks this year," Armstrong said. "These are 22-year-old trucks. They've seen better days for us."
The other item would see the county purchase two new Ford Interceptors for the Hall County Sheriff's Office. The vehicles would cost the county just over $33,000 each for a total of just over $67,000.
Documents provided by the county indicate the vehicles would be used for inmate transport and for use by the Hall County Jail.
The Hall County Commission will vote on the consent agenda at its voting session Thursday at the county government center on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
