Toccoa man faces charges after running from troopers

A motorcyclist running from Georgia State Patrol ended the chase in a crash. Just after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, troopers attempted to stop a 2006 Suzuki on US 76 in Rabun County. Instead of stopping, the motorcycle fled. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the pursuit lasted only a quarter of a mile before the motorcycle struck a 2020 Ford Fusion on the passenger side.

The motorcycle driver, 40-year-old Jason Hoyt Massey of Toccoa, had injuries and was taken to the hospital. He is charged with DUI, fleeing and attempting to elude, along with other traffic charges.

The driver of the Fusion was not injured.
