By University of North Georgia Sports Information

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The No. 11 University of North Georgia men's golf team captured the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate team title Tuesday, besting the rest of the 22 team field by four shots.

It is the ninth tournament team win in program history and the first since winning the Montevallo Full Moon BBQ Invitational September 25, 2017.

North Georgia, at 20-over par, finished ahead of No. 4 Lincoln Memorial, while No. 17 Georgia Southwestern was in third. Anderson and Flagler rounded out the top five. The Nighthawks also defeated No. 10 Limestone, No. 19 Erskine, No. 20 Belmont Abbey and No. 21 Lander, as well as multiple teams receiving votes in the latest top 25 poll.

Evan Thompson won the tournament individually, shooting 7-under for the 54-hole event, tying the third best score in program history. He won the tournament by four shots and was one of just three players in the field under par.

The Nighthawks also got a top 10 finish from Grant Crowell, who finished in a tie for ninth place.

North Georgia will next be in action in two weeks at the GSW Hurricane Spring Invitational.
