By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The annual scholarship cycle held by the North Georgia Community Foundation is now open through the beginning of March.

The foundation announced the opening of the cycle in a release Friday. The foundation will administer 67 scholarship funds ranging from $500 to $15,000 to students in the Northeast Georgia area. The scholarships are for high school seniors, current college students and non-traditional students.

In addition, the foundation announced it will be offering two new funds. The Mary Joan Keeney Scholarship will offer $1,900 in funds each to two non-traditional female students looking for careers in nursing and mental health care. The Rushton Educational Scholarship will offer a one-time award of $2,750 to a full-time rising junior or senior college student pursuing an accounting degree.

Students looking to apply can do so on the foundation's website or call at 770-535-7880.

“By providing these scholarship opportunities, our fundholders are making an investment in the students as well as in the future of our community,” NGCF Vice President of Marketing & Development Megan Martin said.

The foundation awarded over $400,000 in scholarship funds in 2021.
