Northside Hospital Gwinnett updates expansion plan

Northside Hospital Gwinnett recently shared its updated expansion plan, which will add more floors to a planned patient tower.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the updated expansion plan will add seven additional floors and 146 inpatient rooms. This new plan changed from what the hospital originally announced in June, and brought the planned 10-story tower to 17 stories.

The hospital announced in June that it would undergo a $400 million expansion, which will add 132 inpatient beds and at least 5,000 new jobs. Now hospital officials think the added floors could create an additional 1,000 jobs.

With the update, Northside Hospital Gwinnett will have a total of 696 inpatient beds.

Hospital officials decided to include more inpatient beds in the plan to keep up with the county’s projected growth. The newly-added inpatient rooms will allow patients to receive both routine inpatient care and intensive care.

The hospital is still expected to be completed in 2025, but now it will cost an additional $400 million.

Northside Hospital Gwinnett also plans to open a five-story, 143,828-square-foot medical office building for outpatient imaging. This new medical office was included in the original plan and it is expected to open in 2023.
