Soccer: Atlanta United releases 2023 schedule

ATLANTA  — Atlanta United released its 2023 schedule on Tuesday.

Atlanta United will play 24 of its 34-game slate prior to the start of Leagues Cup, a World Cup-style tournament featuring every team from MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX, which will run from July 21 – Aug. 20. The remaining 10 matches will take place after league play resumes in late August. Atlanta’s MLS schedule is comprised of 24 matches on Saturdays, seven on Wednesdays and three on Sundays. The 2023 calendar also offers balance, as Atlanta United will never play more than two consecutive games at home or on the road.

Atlanta United begins the 2023 season with its home opener Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. against the San Jose Earthquakes at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. After another home match against Toronto FC the following weekend, Atlanta plays in its first national broadcast and road match of the year at Charlotte FC on Saturday, March 11 (12:00 p.m., FOX). The month ends with a home match against Portland Timbers Saturday, March 18, and a trip to Columbus Crew on March 25.

The club’s five matches in April ends with back-to-back national TV matches, home against Chicago Fire FC on Sunday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m. on FS1 and away to Nashville SC Saturday, April 29 at 1:30 p.m. on FOX. Atlanta keeps busy in May with six matches, three at home and three on the road. The month ends with a trip to rival Orlando City SC on Saturday, May 27 and a home match against New England Revolution on Wednesday, May 31 on FS1.

The summer months begin with a matchup against the reigning MLS Cup Champions Los Angeles FC on June 3 (10:30 p.m.). A pair of home tilts against D.C. United and New York City FC on June 10 and June 21, respectively, lead into a road trip at New York Red Bulls on June 24 to end the month.

Philadelphia Union enters Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 2 at 4:00 p.m. for the club’s final scheduled match to be broadcast on FOX. Atlanta plays two road games at CF Montreal (July 8) and New England (July 12) before hosting Orlando City SC on July 15 at 7:30 p.m. (FS1) in the final match ahead of MLS’ pause for the Leagues Cup.

Atlanta is scheduled to resume MLS action at Seattle Sounders on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 10:30 p.m. August finishes with two home matches against Nashville SC (Aug. 26) and FC Cincinnati (Aug. 30).

The final seven matches of the year include three home games against Inter Miami CF (Sept. 16), CF Montreal (Sept. 23) and Columbus Crew (Oct. 7). Atlanta ends the year on Decision Day away at FC Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 21. New York Red Bulls.
