We told our Hard Left Turn crew that, with the off season in full swing, maybe it would be a good time to take a look at some historic items from the past.
But we didn't expect them to go quite this far!
On this week's podcast, the HLT team goes all the way back to Memorial Day weekend in 1988 to take a look at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
This race occured at the height of the "TIre War" and has some familiar echoes to things we saw in the 2022 season.
Among the things they'll look at:
-Darrell Waltrip survives to become the first four time winner of the 600 mile classic.
-The ongoing battle between Goodyear and Hoosier takes a scary and costly turn.
-The fued between Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Geoff Bodine boils over, with NASCAR taking a hand.
-Two hard luck drivers came oh-so-close to getting their first series win.
