A Clermont woman was arrested Tuesday on charges stemming from an alleged child molestation incident in June.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Rachel Barbara Wassing, 36, was charged with one count each of child molestation and electronic furnishing of obscene material to a minor. Investigators arrested Wassing at the agency's headquarters after securing warrants the same day.
A preliminary investigation alleges Wassing showed the victim, a boy under the age of 10, explicit pornographic videos on her cell phone. Wassing allegedly committed the crimes on one occasion in June at her home.
"The victim visited the home periodically during the month," the release reads.
The investigation started on August 1, when the victim disclosed the incident to a family member. That family member then reported it to Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Wassing's home on August 26 and seized several electronic devices. They obtained arrested warrants for Wassing after the completion of forensic processing of the devices along with several interviews.
Wassing remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Wednesday morning. The case remained under investigation as of last report.
