Girls basketball: Branch, Banks, Buford, Rabun get wins: Johnson, Lakeview fall

RABBITTOWN, Ga. — After falling behind at the end of the first quarter, the Flowery Branch girls grabbed the lead and held on to beat East Hall, 56-47, on the road Tuesday.

The Lady Falcons (3-2) were down 20-18 after the opening period but took the lead by halftime, 36-25.

East Hall cut the lead to five points in the third quarter but could never take control.

Bella Brick led the Lady Falcons with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brannen Shiloh had 11 points and 10 boards, and Amyia Scott added 8.

The Lady Falcons will play host to Jackson County on Friday. East Hall (1-3) will open region play at home against Walnut Grove on Friday. 


LOGANVILLE CHRISTIAN 51,
JOHNSON 22

Johnson opened its season on Tuesday with a non-region loss at home.

The Lady Knights (0-1) stayed within striking distance in the first before the Lady Lions (3-0) broke it open in the second half. Johnson trailed 37-20 after the third quarter but was held to just 2 points over the final eight minutes.

Alana Young led the Lady Knights with 7 points. Kenisha Avila and Destiny Ramirez both chipped in with 5 for Johnson.

Johnson will be back in action on Thursday, opening its Region 8-4A schedule on the road against Cedar Shoals.


ATHENS CHRISTIAN 48,
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 41

The Lady Lions led most of the first half but couldn't hold on in the second half to fall to Athens Christian.

Taliah Gaither led the Lady Lions with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Ashlyn Henderson poured in 10 points and 9 boards, while Sidney Corbin chipped in 6 points and 4 assists.

Lakeview (1-4) will play host to Rabun County on Friday. 


LANIER CHRISTIAN 46,
TRINITY PREP 15

Camille Hoffman scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Lightning to the win on Tuesday.

Ellie Roberts added 14 points and 4 rebounds, and Adelyn Gough scored 11 points and grabbed 11 boards.


BANKS COUNTY 56,
JACKSON COUNTY 18

Carley Segars had 12 points, and Addison Hoard scored 11 in the Lady Leopards' blowout win over Jackson County on Tuesday.

Ryleigh Murphy scored 8, and Nazli De La Garza had 5. 


RABUN COUNTY 55,
FRANKLIN, NC 42

Lucy Hood scored 25 points in the Lady Wildcats' win over Franklin, NC, on Tuesday.

Ellie Southards had 16 points, and 7 rebounds, and Mary Lovell pulled down 9 boards and added 6 points.


BUFORD 84,
HARRISON 42

Ava Grace Watson scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Lady Wolves past Harrison on the road Tuesday.

Taylor Romano poured in 21, Betty Nguyen had 11, and Olivia Ledford had 10.

Buford (4-0) will play at Southwest DeKalb on Saturday.
