Throughout the month of November, all adult animals ages 6 months and older are half the price to adopt at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.
The “Fall in Love” event is intended to find rescues new and permanent homes, but also to relieve some of the shelter’s currently crowded facility.
A press release sent Friday by the shelter stated it is at “critical capacity”.
“We are once again at critical capacity…that being said, we have decided to proactively take measures to find the rescues in our care forever homes, not only because they deserve a loving home but also so we can continue helping other shelters and animals in need,” said Sam Threadgill, HSNEGA’s Chief Philanthropy Officer, in Friday’s statement.
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia frequently brings rescues in from other shelters in the area. The current level of rescues at HSNEGA makes this commitment harder to keep.
Rescues at HSNEGA receive top-of-the-line care, including interactive treats, doggie playgroups, and doggie day outs. However, the goal of the shelter is to get these rescues into forever homes.
“Being in a shelter environment can be stressful for our rescues. The health and well-being of the animals in our care, as well as our team and the community we serve, remains our top priority,” said Allison Mayfield, Chief Executive Officer of HSNEGA in the statement. “We will continue to be dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless rescues with the quality of care that they deserve.”
Potential adopters can see photos of available animals at HSNEGA.org/adopt. The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is located at 845 West Ridge Road in Gainesville. Operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
