Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will pause Tuesday night to remember Deputy Lena Nicole Marshall on the one-year anniversary of her death in the line of duty.
Marshall, 49, died Nov. 8, 2021, after being shot three days earlier while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Hoschton.
She was the first female officer to die in the line of duty in Jackson County.
After beginning her law enforcement career in 2009, Marshall had worked for sheriff’s offices in Barrow and Habersham counties, and at police departments in Helen and Winder before joining Jackson County in June 2020.
The candlelight vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in front of the Jackson County Jail, 555 Stan Evans Drive, Jefferson.
