Gainesville man killed in single-vehicle crash near Chestnut Mountain

A Gainesville man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Thursday evening near Chestnut Mountain.

According to Derreck Booth, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Siegfried Otto Stritzl, 78, was killed in the accident on Ellison Farm Road.

Stritzl was reportedly driving northeast on Ellison Farm Road in a Honda Odyssey. The minivan reportedly traveled through a stop sign, crossed Tanners Mill Road and hit a utility pole at about 10:10 p.m.

Stritzl was the only person in the vehicle. Hall County Fire Rescue transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he died. Deputies have notified Stritzl's next of kin.

The Sheriff's Office was continuing to investigate the accident as of last report.
