COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. — North Forsyth completed its final test to stay in the hunt for the Region 8-6A title at home on Friday.
They shook off 11 penalties for 71 yards to beat Habersham Central, 24-14, at Raider Valley to stay undefeated in region play. Gainesville also took care of business in Snellville to remain undefeated. The two have been on a collision course for all the marbles in Region 8-6A, and next Friday will play for the top spot at City Park in Gainesville.
Sophomore running back Karson McBrayer had 29 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown to lead NoFo's (6-2, 4-0 Region 8-6A) rushing attack, including the first score of the game on a 2-yard run with 9:46 left in the opening quarter. Adrian Droze pushed North's lead to 10-0 with a 31-yard field goal with 1:42 to go in the second quarter.
Habersham (2-6, 0-4 Region 8-6A) got on the board with less than a minute reaming in the first half on a 3-yard pass from Carson Parker to Zeke Wittington, cutting the lead to 10-7. Parker was 23-of--40 for 190 yards passing. Wittington finished with 15 catches for 132 yards.
In the second half, North Forsyth scored late in the third quarter when Logan Curry hauled in a 26-yard pass from West Roberts.
Robers finished the night 12-of-15 for 150 yards and a touchdown. Curry caught six passes for 59 yards.
Caleb Bowen tacked on North's final touchdown with 7:45 to go in the fourth on a 4-yard run to extend the lead 24-7.
Parker scored Habersham's final touchdown on a 2-yard run with 4:26 left in the game.
