Gwinnett County Police release name of teen shot and killed in Lawrenceville

The Gwinnett County Police Department has released the name of a teenager who was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Lawrenceville.

In an update released Monday morning, the victim in the case was identified as Timothy Buchanan, 17, of Lawrenceville.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating after a teenager was found shot to death Sunday afternoon in Lawrenceville.

According to a press release from the agency, officers were dispatched at about 4:00 p.m. to the report of a person shot on Mariray Court in Lawrenceville.

Arriving officers found a teenager dead from an apparent gunshot wound on the subdivision's basketball court. Police said they believed the boy was about 17 years old.

Authorities were unaware of a motive and no arrests had been made as of Sunday evening.
