TIGER — Rabun County stayed unbeaten in Region 8-2A after taking a 76-61 victory over Union County on Thursday.
Connor McKay had a career game for the Wildcats (16-5, 4-0 Region 8-2A) pouring in 47 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. It was the second time this season McKay has scored 47 points in a game.
Rabun opened the game with a 22-12 lead and never looked back. The Wildcats took a 48-30 advantage in halftime. The Panthers did not go away, however.
Union County (8-11, 1-3 Region 8-2A) got the lead down to 6 late in the fourth quarter before Rabun rallied to take a 58-49 lead into th fourth quarter.
Gus Hood contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists for Rabun County. Cooper Welch had 8 points for the Wildcats.
Union County was by paced Caleb John with 14 points. Houston Henry added 11 for th Panthers.
