Man dies in weekend Lumpkin Co. fire

A man died in a fire at a residence in Lumpkin County over the weekend.

The fire broke out just after 8 a.m. Sunay at the home on Rose Creek Lane in Dahlonega, according to a press statement from the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's Office. The blaze completely destroyed the 16-year-old, 200-square-foot home.

Crews found the body of the unidentified victim inside the home after the fire was extinguished. His body was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Investigators are working to determine a cause of the fire.
