Girls basketball: Bolden's career-high keeps Lady Dragons in first in 8-4A; Lakeview, Chestatee win, Johnson, Commerce fall

JEFFERSON — With first place in Region 8-4A possibly on the line, Jefferson's Natalia Bolden in particular, never gave Cedar Shoals a chance to get there.

Bolden poured in 19 of her career-high 29 points in the first half points to lead the Class 4A No. 2-ranked Lady Dragons to an eventual 61-30 rout of the sixth-ranked Lady Jaguars at The Arena on Thursday. It was the fifth straight win for the Lady Dragons.

Jefferson (17-2, 7-1 Region 8-4A) outscored Cedar Shoals 12-3 in the first quarter and took a 32-15 lead into halftime behind Bolden. The Lady Dragons did not let up in the second half outsourcing the Lady Jaguars 29-15 to pull away for the lopsided win.

Ella Kinlaw had 12 points, 10 coming in the second half, for Jefferson.

Deshauna Foote led Cedar Shoals (12-5, 5-3 Region 8-4A) with 8 points. Ray Williams added 6 for the Lady Jaguars.

Jefferson is off until next Friday when the Lady Dragons travel to take on Chestatee in Region 8-4A action.


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 51,
FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN 43

The Lady Lions moved into a tie for third place in Region 6-A Private with a huge come-from-behind win at home.

Fellowship Christian (6-9, 3-4 Region 6-A Private) led the entire first half taking a 14-10 after the first quarter and a 28-20 advantage at halftime.

But Lakeview (6-9, 3-3 Region 6-A Private) stormed back in the third quarter.  The Lady Lions outscored Fellowship 15-5 for a 35-33 lead and used a 16-10 fourth quarter to pull away.

Joelle Snyder paced Lakeview with 16 points. Dynesty Putman added 13 points and 6 rebounds and Ashlyn Henderson had 8 points and 9 rebounds for Lakeview. Sidney Corbin added 12 points for the Lady Lions.

Lakeview next will play host to Habersham Central on Saturday.


CHESTATEE 59,
COMMERCE 29

The Lady War Eagles got a career-high 17 points from Addison Boyd in taking the non-region win at home.

It was the second straight win for Chestatee (14-6). Commerce (5-10) saw its two-game win streak snapped with the loss.

Bowen Corley had 13 points and Riley Black had 12 for Chestatee. 

Chestatee next will play at East Hall on Tuesday in a big Region 8-4A showdown for both teams.

Commerce will travel to Social Circle on Saturday in a Region 8-A Public battle.


CLARKE CENTRAL 42,
JOHNSON 21

The Lady Knights fell behind 15-6 after the first quarter and never caught up in taking a Region 8-5A loss at home on Thursday.

Johnson (2-16, 0-8 Region 8-5A) trailed 22-10 at halftime and 31-15 heading into the fourth quarter.

Alana Young led Johnson with 8 points. Ashley Mintz had 5 for the Lady Knights.

Miciyah Pittard and Ayanna Lonon each had 10 points for Clarke Central (6-10, 5-3 Region 8-5A).

Johnson next will travel to rival West Hall on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip.
